Breadvertising

Marketing & Advertising Published on 10 May 2006 in Marketing & Advertising

A staple of the French diet, freshly baked baguettes are sold throughout the day. The paper used to wrap baguettes is usually printed with the name and logo of the flour supplier, which obviously has very little meaning to consumers who buy the bread.

So one of our Springspotters was rather surprised to be handed the baguette shown above, wrapped in an ad for a housing rental agency. A new twist in a very traditional industry! Although we definitely don't advocate plastering everything with advertising, the paper bag does present an attractive canvas. Plenty of room for long copy and for adding something fun or useful for consumers – recipes (food brands), seasonal to-do lists (diy companies), first chapters of new novels (publishers), colouring pictures for children (Disney)… Well, you get the picture. ;-)

What's the name of the agency thats explore ads in bags of bread?
