Passengers on Contiki tour buses can now relax and enjoy their travels without stressing about their mobile phones, digital cameras, iPods or other portable electronic devices running out of juice. Australian-based Contiki has introduced Charging on the Go as a free service to customers. Starting this summer, the company is outfitting all of its European coaches with electronic charging units, so customers can plug in while en route to their destination and not have to worry about their batteries going flat.
This is a smart move considering how much people increasingly rely on digital devices, especially while travelling. It adds an extra layer of convenience for customers—and should be particularly appealing to the Gen X and Gen Y crowd that Contiki primarily caters to. Who produces/manufactures/sells the electronic charging units?
They probably got sick of all the tourists complaining that they couldn't recharge their mobiles while on a whirlwind Contiki tour!
see, every company out there should be doing the same thing. airlines, restaurants, taxis. no excuse to not having decent power outlets just about everywhere nowadays.

Cool, but 'charging units' is a bit vague. What will they be compatible with? Charging an iPod and charging a Nokia mobile are very different propositions.
Hopefully, airplanes get the hint. I was traveling for 30 hours to Asia and unable to charge my iPod except during layovers at the airport (which in itself is difficult). Only some airplanes having charging devices in coach... UGH!
On another note, during another trip, I saw a Samsung (I think it was Samsung) charging station at JFK airport. There, consumers could charge their iPods, phones etc. during their layover. And get this: It was placed near seating so I could actually sit down in a chair while charging my gadgets!
I saw one at a pub in Dublin for all major brands of mobile phone, so you could charge your moby while having a pint!
Recently I used the Aeroline coach from Singapore to Malaysia. The coach had power points beside every seat and we could charge all our devices. One more point its cheaper to book on Aeroline on their Malaysian site than on Singapore site.
