Creative Swap is a week-long event in which UK creative agencies swap one of their own talented staff with a creative professional from another studio.
For those who work in creative fields, it can be difficult to remain fresh and inspired over time. Aiming to help facilitate a little cross-pollination and rejuvenation, Creative Swap is a week-long event planned for later this month in which UK creative agencies will swap one of their own talented staff with a creative professional from another studio. The brainchild of London-based creative agency Sane & Able, Creative Swap is free for all agencies with more than one employee in creative fields including graphics, web design, illustration, architecture, advertising and more. Interested agencies began by registering with the site earlier this month. Next, Creative Swap grouped all submissions by location and matched them up randomly into pairs. Then, on Monday 24th September, matched employees will officially swap places for five days and – participants hope – glean fresh inspiration and experiences along the way. The Creative Swap site explains: “With social media encouraging more open communication and most industries wary of openness, the creative industry actually thrives on new experiences so the more open we can be the better. This is why we wanted to create a platform that allows all creative companies to get involved and learn from each other openly. Long gone are the days where we have to huddle over our pads worried that our creative secrets and processes will be stolen and everyone else is the enemy.” No word yet on any future Creative Swap exchange weeks, and currently the effort serves only agencies in the UK. Time to set up something similar in other industries or other parts of the world? Spotted by: Judy McRae
