The eco-friendly menstrual discs are made from natural materials and produce 71 per cent less waste than applicator tampons and pads
Spotted: Sanitary care product retailer, The Flex Co., is adding an all-new plant-based menstrual disc—called the Plant+ Disc—to their lineup of eco-friendly products.
The new product is made from 40 per cent plant-based polymers derived from sugar cane plants. These plants absorb carbon dioxide when alive, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, the Plant+ Disc produces 71 per cent less waste than applicator tampons and pads.
The company says that the disc can be worn for up to 12 hours at a time, holding the capacity of more than five super tampons. In addition, the disc is designed to fit all body types and can be used with any type of period flow. Once in place, the disc warms and moulds to the user’s body, preventing leaks and providing additional comfort.
The Plant+ Disc is also cleared for use during sex, making it an ideal choice for women who want to have hassle-free period sex without worrying about leaks or stains. The company claims the disc can also help those that suffer from cramps as it sits in the vaginal fornix and moves with the user’s body, leaving the vaginal canal unobstructed – alleviating extra pressure.
The disc comes in packs of 4, 8 and 12 with a monthly subscription pack available for $9.99 (around €9.17).
