Spotted: Eddy Travels is an AI-enabled personal travel assistant that operates within popular chat applications, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Slack and Telegram. 

Based on the user’s chat conversations, Eddy uses a language processing system that makes tailored travel recommendations. This enables to unify all booking needs to one place, from flights to hotels. Eddy even recommends personalized activities. For example, if your friend mentions taking a trip to Tanzania, Eddy could recommend a safe area to stay in, accommodation, the best travel insurance, tours, etc. 

Alternatively, users can ask Eddy for more specific requests directly — for example, they can ask for a one-way trip from London to Hong Kong on a particular date.

How does it earn revenue? EddyTravel’s Co-Founder and CEO Edmundas Balčikonis, says revenue is provided by partnering with service providers. The Toronto-based company has already established revenue-sharing partnerships with Skyscanner, SafetyWing, Vertoe, G Adventures and a number of other travel companies. This enables users to access anything from flights and accommodation to medical insurance, luggage storage and tour packages.
