Spotted: Helping people to deal with mental health problems has rarely been more urgent – or more difficult. Rates of depression and anxiety have soared since the pandemic, and the world faces a shortage of trained mental health professionals. Yet, while there are a number of wellbeing apps and programmes out there aimed at businesses, few of these combine technology with real-life, human psychologists. This is a gap that Madrid-based emotional wellbeing service Ifeel hopes to fill.

Ifeel has developed a digital wellbeing service aimed at helping businesses provide all employees with access to mental health support. The platform allows employees to track their mood and daily activity with exercises and self-care tips. It also provides professional emotional support over chat, as well as regular assessments to help employees manage their symptoms more effectively.

As part of its service, Ifeel also provides ongoing online therapy with a human psychologist. The platform has a team of over 600 psychologists trained in different theoretical models. For employers, the service provides feedback through the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics. This helps give human resources a clearer picture of areas of concern, while maintaining employee confidentiality. As well as companies, the service is also available to individuals.

The company has recently raised €10 million from investors in a Series A round led by UNIQA Ventures, the venture capital arm of UNIQA Insurance Group. The money will be used to enter new markets and develop new products. Amir Kaplan, CEO of Ifeel, said that, “From this point on, our goal is to help companies integrate this mindset into their corporate culture.”

Virtual medicine is exploding, as providers realise they can reach a far greater number of people at lower cost. Springwise has spotted a number of innovations offering remote health care such as virtual health clinics, and an app that helps schools screen students for mental health issues.
