Krisp forms a soundproof barrier between you and whoever you’re talking to, muting both outgoing and incoming background noise
Spotted: The new Krisp noise-cancelling app mutes background noise on both ends of your calls, making unwanted sounds during video calls a thing of the past.
For regular remote workers, Krisp will likely become an indispensable part of your online communication repertoire, as it can turn any noisy part of your house into a quiet meeting room.
Once Krisp is installed, users can mute all outgoing background noise with the push of a single button. They can also mute all background noises on incoming calls, regardless of whether the other person is using Krisp or not.
The app works by muting unwanted noises between the user’s microphone and the other end of the call. Krisp is compatible with over 800 communication apps — including the big ones such as Zoom and Google Meet. It works on nearly any device, including Macs, Windows PCs, Android phones and iPhones, and best of all: you can get it for free.
There is a free version of Krisp designed for occasional remote workers that offers two hours of usage per week. For less than €3 per month, you can get the premium version, which is perfect for remote workers often using teleconferencing.
To create a soundproof barrier between you and whoever you’re talking to, Krisp uses an artificially intelligent Deep Neural Network technology that is able to screen background noise by analysing 20,000 sounds from 50,000 speakers. However, for those concerned about privacy, Krisp doesn’t monitor calls or log data. In addition, all of its audio processing is performed on the user’s own device.
The Krisp noise-cancelling app is already used by telecommuting professionals at companies such as Intel, Discord.
