Spotted: Australian startup Ida Sports has made what it claims is the first football boot designed specifically for women’s feet. The new boot, set to go on sale in April 2019, targets the unique anatomy of female feet: narrower heels, wider forefoot and higher arches. Not surprisingly, because it fits better than a man’s boot, it’s more comfortable. Amateur footballer Laura Youngson and former cricketer Ben Sandhu, co-founders of Ida Sports, argue women are currently buying smaller versions of men’s boots. They say these shoes are more painful for women (go figure) and lead to injury, leading many women to give up the sport.
