Football club launches website for poor internet connections

Sport & Fitness

A German football club has launched a new website that is optimised specifically for poor internet connections.

German football club Bayern Munich has recently launched a new website designed for use with poor internet connections. Their ‘lite website’ helps Bayern Munich connect with more fans across the globe, including those who live in areas with poorer internet connections. Bayern Munich is the first sport organisation to create such an initiative. The website launch recognises the wide ranging socio-economic backgrounds and geographic locations that their fans come from.

The website delivers the latest news on the German football club, making sure that fans are up-to-date. To offer this new service, the website focuses on delivering content in a functional and fast way. The website displays news as plain text articles and in a chronological order. Users can also view the website in three different languages: German, English and Spanish. Furthermore, Bayern Munich are widening accessibility for blind and visually impaired fans by offering text-to-audio services.

At Springwise, we have published many innovations that aim to improve the experiences of sports fans and also increase their engagement. For example, the US Major League Baseball and a blockchain game studio partnered to create a cryptocurrency baseball game for fans of the sport. Another example is a range of augmented reality features developed by an Australian company to change the way fans engage in sport, such as gamifying the stadium experience.
