SpoonRocket provides affordable, healthy haute cuisine with a delivery time of around ten minutes.

While Paris-based L’appero offers quick delivery of aperitifs at any time of the day, a new startup coming out of California is aiming to step things up a notch. SpoonRocket provides affordable haute cuisine with a delivery time of around ten minutes.

Based in the Bay Area, the startup has a simple menu – one dish for vegetarians and one for meat eaters, both priced at USD 6. The company gets its food from local organic, free-range and growth hormone-free sources such as San Francisco’s Greenleaf grocers, and uses gourmet recipes that are switched each day dependent on the ingredients available. Due to this flexibility, customers can expect their food to be delivered to their door within ten minutes, with a text sent to let them know when the driver will be outside.

With a price-point similar to typical fast food restaurants and the additional option of quick, free delivery, SpoonRocket aims to change the way people think about the industry, proving that speedy customer service can be matched with healthy, organic food. The startup hopes to expand to cover Silicon Valley and other San Francisco areas in the near future. Could a similar venture work in your country?
