USB password manager offers access via fingerprint swipe

myIDkey is a USB drive with built-in password manager that users unlock with the simple swipe of a finger.

Passwords may often be a pain for those with numerous online accounts, but myIDkey now offers a novel solution. Secured with biometrics, myIDkey is a USB drive with built-in password manager that users unlock with the simple swipe of a finger. Users begin by creating an online profile through the secure cloud ecosystem from California-based Arkami, maker of myIDkey. That profile, in turn, can only be accessed by the biometrically secured USB device, which is the first voice-search, secure Bluetooth/USB drive that displays passwords and ID on the go, Arkami says. A quick finger swipe allows only the device’s owner to view his or her passwords directly from the bright screen; using a built-in microphone button, users can also simply say what they’re looking for – “passport number,” for instance – and the number is shown on-screen. If the 16GB device is lost or stolen, the stored data is deleted if someone else tries to gain access multiple times. The video below explains the premise in more detail: Following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, myIDkey is now available for preorder for USD 139.99; shipping is expected to take place in September.
